Most people have heard of CBT. Fewer know what actually happens in a session, or why it works.
The core idea
Cognitive behavioral therapy rests on a simple observation: the way we interpret a situation shapes how we feel about it, and how we feel shapes what we do next. Change the interpretation, and the feeling often follows.
What a session looks like
We start by mapping a specific moment — not your whole life, just one situation that hurt. We slow it down, separate the facts from the story you told yourself about them, and look for the thought that did the damage.
Then we test it. Is it true? Is it the only true thing? What would you tell a friend in the same moment?
Why it lasts
CBT isn't about positive thinking. It's about accurate thinking. Over time, you learn to catch your own patterns — and that skill stays with you long after therapy ends.
